DATES: November 1-30, 2019
Gratitude: noun /ˈɡræt̬·ɪˌtud/ (US) A strong feeling of appreciation to someone or something for what the person has done to help you. (UK) The feeling or quality of being grateful.
What is the Gratitude Challenge?
The challenge is simple: post daily about one blessing in your life, for the month of November. That’s it. It’s simple because we know how hard the consistency can be!
First, the goal is to mentally prepare ourselves and truly enjoy the holiday! Thanksgiving, the day we set aside to give thanks, always seems to get shafted, in my opinion. It’s hard to remember it’s not about the parade, the football games, and the turkey! It has always been my ultimate favorite holiday, and I’ve always tried to make it “big” for my kids, so they get in the spirit too. Plus, there is nothing like a Gratitude Challenge to re-set and sweep away the grumpy doldrums!
Secondly, while we’re appreciating our blessings, we’re also practicing consistency of regularly writing and posting. And while the challenge goal is to post every day, we do know that life can get in the way. So we encourage you to post and share as often as you can.
Everyone is welcome to join; this is an open challenge for as many that would like to participate.
This is a very open-ended, flexible challenge. You can post whatever tugs at your heart that particular day. But just remember, this is a Gratitude Challenge, and like we tell our kids – it’s not just about completing an assignment and checking it off. Take the time to really reflect and personalize this experience for yourself. I personally love to keep an eye out for that “daily bread” moment. A “daily bread” moment is when you are given exactly what you need right when you need it, even if you didn’t know you did. So don’t be afraid to search for the hidden gems that pop up that specific day to focus your gratitude on.
Again, while the challenge goal is to post every day for 30 days, we do know that life can get in the way. So we encourage you to post and share as often as you can and get as close to your goal as you can.
